Infinite nesting

Type them in the flow. The server normalizes them into structured metadata you can filter on.
Full-text jump
SQLite FTS5 under the hood. Hit ⌘K from anywhere and jump straight to a note by title, tag, or date.
Inbox, by default
Every account comes with an Inbox at the top of the tree. Capture first, organize later — or never.
Undo anywhere
Soft deletes. Any row you drop shows a toast with Undo. Nothing gone until you say so.
Works offline
Install it to your home screen and it opens like an app. Edits made on a plane queue locally and replay the moment you're back.
Backlinks
Reference any bullet with [[…]]. The other end lists every mention automatically — no manual index to maintain.
Bring your own agent
There's no AI inside Nest. But your agents can read and edit your outline over MCP, scoped to a token you mint and revoke yourself.

What Nest isn't.
Most notes apps race to be "the everything app". Nest picks the opposite path.
- No collaboration. One person, one brain.
- No AI. It doesn't summarize, suggest, or second-guess you.
- No attachments. Words are enough.
- No public sharing, permissions, or mirrored nodes.
- No kanban, recurring tasks, or plugins.
What's left is a very fast outline.
Built on things you already trust.
One binary. One database file. Runs on the smallest box you can rent.
Backend
Rust + axum. argon2 password hashing. HTTP-only session cookies. Recursive CTEs for the tree.
Database
SQLite, single file. FTS5 for search. Soft deletes. No Postgres, no Redis, no cache tier.
Frontend
Vanilla JavaScript modules. Plain CSS. No build step. "View source" actually works.
